Daily Digit: Among Democrat House nominees, white men are the minority

Daily Digit is the story behind the numbers that make our world work. Today we’re looking at the race and gender of 2018 House nominees. Democrats have nominated 180 women candidates in House primaries, surpassing the party’s previous record of 120 in 2016. In comparison, Republicans have 52 female nominees. Democrats have also nominated 133 people of color. The majority of Congress is now made up of white men, but the candidate pool could significantly change the makeup of Congress for years to come.
