The Daily Press will continue printing seven days a week with home delivery by carriers after hearing meaningful feedback from readers and advertisers about plans to change our frequency of delivery.

At the same time, our newsroom is adding new digital offerings, including weekly e-mail newsletters on sports and news for several of our local communities.

“All our readers —of our print product and our digital platforms — are important to us,” local news editor James Ward said. “This decision to roll back the proposed print reductions underscores our commitment to our subscribers on whatever platform they want to engage with our content, either in print or digitally.”

Gannett, the parent company of the Daily Press, announced plans last month to reduce printing to two days per week, Thursday and Saturday, and switch from carrier delivery to U.S. Postal Service delivery, starting in late June.

Response from subscribers and advertising clients to the planned changes prompted reconsideration of those plans.

At the same time, the Daily Press is moving forward with expanding its digital efforts, including adding several new e-newsletters delivered to the email inboxes of readers who opt-in.

The new newsletters, which are expected to start at the end of June, include:

  • Best of Daily Press: Our best stories, investigations, and discoveries sent weekly from the editor’s desk.

  • Beyond the Box Score: Our best stories about the High Desert sports scene sent weekly.

  • Your week in Barstow: Our best stories about Barstow, sent weekly.

  • Your week in Hesperia: Our best stories about Hesperia, sent weekly.

  • Your week in Lucerne Valley: Our best stories about Lucerne Valley, sent weekly.
