While the week had some ugly days of rain, the weather took a turn for the better Saturday and looks to be carrying over into this week.

What wasn't ugly was the play from Lenawee County student-athletes across all sports as there were plenty of standout performances throughout the week.

Joelden Griffin, Adrian baseball

Griffin had a spectacular pitching performance as he shutout Chelsea in a 1-0 win where he also drove in the game's only run.

Griffin went seven innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five to knockoff the Bulldogs. The Maples swept the doubleheader to take the SEC White series win.

Jaden Benschoter, Tecumseh softball

Benschoter is one of the few seniors on a young Tecumseh and her leadership at the plate helped Tecumseh go 3-3 during a tough week of games.

She hit a double against Saline and had a big day against Clinton as she record five hits, including a 2-run home run, and drove in four runs as Tecumseh split with the Redwolves.

Anthony Mingione, Blissfield boys golf

For the second-straight season, a freshman won the boys county championship as he shot a 77.

The next day he carded a 9-hole 37 and took second in the weekly LCAA jamboree by a single shot against Austin Marry of Hudson.

Chesney Wilke, Tecumseh girls soccer

Wilke scored five goals for Tecumseh as the team tied with Chelsea and went 3-1 at the Dansville tournament.

To add to her week, she also won the 800-meter for Tecumseh in a SEC White tri-meet with Chelsea and Ypsilanti at 2:27.6.

Joe Francis, Adrian boys track and field

Francis helped the Maples get a big invite win on Saturday as he won the high jump and long jump at the Divine Child Mark Carpenter Invite.

Francis matched his county-best height of 6-feet-2-inches in the high jump while posting a personal best in the long jump at 20-3.25.

Emmry Ross, Onsted girls track and field

Ross helped the Wildcats continue to on their strong season as she won the 400 (59.39) and 800 (2:24.17) and was part of the 4x200 win against Clinton and Blissfield.

She also helped Onsted win a number of events as it won the Addison Relays later in the week.

Christian Hagen, Tecumseh girls tennis

Hagen got a good win at No. 1 singles as she battled Mya Soto of Adrian in the SEC White rivalry dual.

Hagen got the win, 6-3, 7-6(7-2).

Jazzy Reau, Tecumseh girls lacrosse

Reau picked up her play this week despite Tecumseh going 0-3 on the week.

Reau led the team with six goals this week.
