After a week off with only one team in action, the Daily Telegram's Athlete of the Week is back with winter sports as hockey continues on, girls basketball tips off and bowling got underway this past week.

Alli Zajac, Tecumseh girls basketball

Zajac came into her first high school season with a lot of hype as a highly regarded prospect in the Class of 2025.

She lived up to it in her debut as she record 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 64-34 win at Monroe before posting 16 points, four rebounds, three steals, a block and an assist in at 68-29 win against Manchester.

Walker Claiborne, Lenawee United hockey

Claiborne, a senior at Madison, had a big game to help United defeat Ann Arbor Skyline, 7-4, on Saturday.

Claiborne had four goals to push Lenawee to 4-2 on the season.

Sydney Nichols, Onsted girls bowling

Nichols got her season off on a strong note as she won the girls division of the Wildcat Blast-off tournament at Ten Pin.

Nichols rolled three-straight strikes to conclude the final and defeat Clinton's Paige Shankland, 184-179.

Collin Hickman, Madison boys bowling

Hickman pulled off a dramatic upset win in the final of the Wildcat Blast-off tournament at Ten Pin to get his season started strong.

Hickman took on Clinton's Joe Bohnett, who was the No. 1 seed going into bracket play, and won 216-190 in the championship.
