Daisy May Cooper returns to Instagram after ‘throwing a tantrum’ and suspending own account

Daisy May Cooper has returned to Instagram after sharing a video arguing with her publisher about whether she could mention an ex-boyfriend’s penis in her book.

On Wednesday (3 March), the This Country star posted a video to her social media while on the phone to Penguin, the publishers of her new memoir Don’t Laugh, It Will Only Encourage Her.

In the clip, Cooper can be heard saying: “I don’t think I’m actually asking for that much. All I’m asking for is to write a story about an ex-boyfriend I had who had a knob that bent massively to the left.”

Cooper then shared a second clip to her Instagram, in which she could be heard being reprimanded by a male voice for recording and posting the conversation online.

“It wasn’t very funny to us at the publishers. We’re quite a serious group of people,” the voice could be heard saying.

Cooper then promised not to post anything online again.

Cooper’s Instagram was briefly suspended after the posts were shared, with the comedian confirming on Friday (5 March) morning that she had been the one to disable her account.

“I threw a tantrum yesterday and disabled my account on Instagram in protest,” she wrote. “Penguin have offered to let me dedicate the book to my ex-boyfriend’s wonky knob. I have accepted.

“I also ended up having a heart-to-heart with the publisher (the man in the video) who confessed he was in a really bad mood the day he was behaving like a t***. Mainly because his five-year-old son keeps hitting him with a stick and there is a cat on his street that keeps using his own cat’s cat flap and is intimidating him in his own house.”
