Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was in tears after his right ankle appeared to snap in a horribly gruesome injury on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex.
Prescott was tackled by Giants safety Logan Ryan while running left, and his ankle appeared to snap inward under Prescott’s white sock.
The Dallas QB grabbed his foot and looked down appearing to be in shock as CBS replayed in slow motion what broadcaster Jim Nantz described as “one of those injuries you don’t want to see twice.”
Players on both teams knelt near Prescott as doctors tended to him a long while with the clock stopped at 6:33 of the third quarter, and Prescott eventually was carted off in tears with his entire team sending him off.
Former Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, now the Giants' offensive coordinator, came onto the field in Prescott’s direction to check on his former quarterback and talk to Dallas coach Mike McCarthy.
Andy Dalton replaced Prescott with the Cowboys leading the Giants, 24-23. Prescott was being transported to a local hospital, according to the broadcast.
Warning: The injury is graphic.
