Dakota Wesleyan University's Ady Dwight named West Central Region freshman of the year

May 4—Dakota Wesleyan University's Ady Dwight was selected as the West Central Region freshman of the year. She was one of two freshman named to the all-region team and was also named an NAIA honorable mention All-American.

Dwight is the fourth DWU player in program history to receive All-American honors, joining Julie Gustafson (1989-1990), Catia Porto (1990) and Rebecca Frick (2019).

The 6-foot middle blocker led the Tigers in kills (241) and blocks (81). She ranked fourth in the conference in total blocks (83) and was sixth in the GPAC with 3.1 kills per set.

She also checked in at 21st in the country with 241 kills on the season and was 34th nationally in blocks per set.

Dwight recorded a season-high 21 kills against Northwestern College, while she posted a season-best seven blocks twice against Concordia University and Midland University.

The Langford High School product was also named the GPAC freshman of the year this past season. The Tigers finished 12-9 and advanced to their first-ever GPAC tournament this spring.
