Dakota Wesleyan's Caden Milmine places 13th in shot put at NAIA nationals

May 28—GULF SHORES, Ala. — Dakota Wesleyan University's Caden Milmine finished 13th in the men's shot put at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships Friday.

Milmine, a senior, heaved 52 feet, 6 1/2 inches on his first toss. He defaulted on his second throw and threw 52 feet on the third. The best of three throws represents the final score. Milmine's top throw this season was 53 feet, 3 3/4 inches. Indiana Kokomo's Grant Gaylor was the champion, throwing 61 feet, 5 3/4 inches.

Lydia Gerber finished 24th in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 6 3/4 inches on Thursday. Her best jump of the season coming into the meet was 37 feet, 11 1/2 feet. The winner was Marian (Ind.)'s Naomi Walters, who jumped 41 feet, 2 1/4 inches.

Lia Guigui also competed in the high jump, but no-heighted.
