Dakota Wesleyan's Lydia Gerber takes home triple jump title at GPAC championships
Feb. 21—SIOUX CENTER, Iowa. — Lydia Gerber took home the triple jump title at the Great Plains Athletic Conference indoor track and field championships Friday and Saturday, as Dakota Wesleyan University earned six all-conference honors.
Gerber used a career-best jump of 37 feet, 11 1/2 inches to win the triple jump for the Tigers. On the men's side, Caden Milmine was the runner-up in the shot put with a heave of 54 feet, 1 inch.
Lia Guigui was third in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 1/4 inches and took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 11 1/2 inches. Meanwhile Oacoma native Avany Long was eighth in the long jump at 16 feet, 7 inches. Morgan Taft was eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 51 feet, 3 3/4 inches.
DWU returns to action in the NAIA National Championships on March 3-6 in Yankton.
