NASCAR fans have decided that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a better race car artist than Jeff Gordon.

That’s essentially what was determined when the two Cup Series legends faced off in a contest to design the car Alex Bowman will pilot next week in the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway.

However, the contest had a catch so it wouldn’t be a popularity contest. When fans were given the choice to pick one paint scheme over the other, they weren’t told who designed which, and Earnhardt’s Neon Lights defeated Gordon’s Music Row.

About the Neon Lights offering, Dale Jr. previously said the "tough part" of coming up with a design was building on the designs Jimmie Johnson raced with while piloting the No. 48 car before retiring from NASCAR at the end of the 2020 season and jumping to the IndyCar Series.

The Music Row paint scheme designed by Gordon will still be utilized, but inan upcoming iRacing event instead.
