The Dallas Stars announced on X, formerly Twitter, that franchise legend and NHL Hall of Famer Mike Modano is getting a statue outside of American Airlines Arena on PNC Plaza.

The statue will be unveiled on March 16 when the Stars play the Los Angeles Kings and will be placed alongside NBA Hall of Famer and Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki.
Modano is considered one of the greatest hockey players and perhaps the greatest American player ever. Modano was enshrined in the NHL Hall of Fame in 2014, the same year the Stars retired his No. 9 jersey.
No U.S.-born player has scored more points or goals in their career than Modano. In 2017, the former Dallas Star was also selected among the 100 greatest NHL players of all time by the NHL.
Modano won the first and only Stanley Cup Trophy in franchise history when the Stars beat the Buffalo Sabers in the 1999 Stanley Cup finals.
In a press release, the team revealed the designers would be Omri Amrany and Sean Bell of Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt Amrany who also designed Nowitzki’s statue.
Drafted No. 1 overall by the then-Minnesota North Stars in 1988, Modano would play 20 years for the franchise and owns the all-time marks in goals scored (557), games played (1,459), assists (802) and points (1359)
