The Dalton Branch of Wayne County Public Library is celebrating Christmas by hosting Isabella Twinkletoes, its very own Elf on the Shelf.

Children who find Isabella by Dec. 23 can enter a drawing for a prize basket filled with items including art supplies, books, sweet treats and a gingerbread Beanie Bellie. The prize, along with many of the library's holiday decorations, has been sponsored by Dalton Friends of WCPL.

For six years Dalton FOL has sold shred bags to raise funds for special library expenses that fall outside the public budget. In addition to decorations, FOL members have purchased outdoor benches, underwritten special children's programs, paid for replacement of well-used children's room toys and materials and honored Dalton library staff with a thank-you gift each December.

Dalton library friends forced to hike shred bag price

Because the wholesale price of shred bags has increased, FOL will raise its price by a dollar, to $9 per shed bag, starting in January. Each secure bag holds up to 50 pounds of paper. When filled, purchasers can deliver bags for shredding to Reed Warehouse at 2750 Akron Road, Wooster, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays or call 330-439-0005 to make an appointment for drop off.

Dalton FOL President Melody Snure said shred bags are an inexpensive holiday gift for the person who has everything. Better yet, she suggested, is gifting each shred bag with a promise to the recipient to deliver the bag to Wooster when filled and sealed.

Dalton FOL officers for 2023 include Snure as president, Beverly McGinty as vice president, Robin McFarren as secretary and Becky Oyer as treasurer. Next FOL meeting will be at the library at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Information about Dalton FOL is available on the group's Facebook page.

Further information about shred bags is available at the library at 127 S. Church St., Dalton, or by calling the library at 330-828-8486.
