Dalton Scout leader presented with Killbuck District Scouter of Year award

WOOSTER − Dave Teece of Dalton named 2023 Scouter of the Year at the Killbuck District recognition dinner, where 75 Scouts and adult leaders gathered Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Wooster.

Teece grew up in Massachusetts where he was involved in Scouts as a youth. After serving in the US Navy and working in Connecticut, he and his family moved to Wayne County in 2000. Shortly thereafter, Teece returned to Scouting when his son joined Dalton Cub Pack 922.

He has been an adult volunteer for Pack 922 and Troop 922 for the past 22 years, serving as den leader, assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster. He led his troop on high adventure trips to Philmont in New Mexico, Sea Base in Florida and River Adventure in West Virginia.

He served the Killbuck District as roundtable commissioner for five years and as district commissioner for three years. He currently serves as the Cubmaster of Pack 922 in Dalton. He previously was honored with the District Award of Merit and the Buckeye Council Silver Beaver award.

Teece has worked for the past 18 years as digital solutions architect for Cargill Salt in Akron, supporting all of Cargill’s plants in the United States and in the Caribbean. He and his wife, Donna, live in Dalton and are the parents of Heather, Katie, Michelle and Andrew.

Wooster attorney James J. Lanham, a former Boy Scout and Scoutmaster was the guest speaker.

Holmes, Wayne had 17 Scouts earn Eagle rank in 2022

Last year, 17 Scouts from Wayne and Holmes counties earned the rank of Eagle and were recognized for their achievement. The Scouts are:

In addition, the following adult awards were presented:
