Dan Campbell fires up the Ford Field crowd as only he can

Saturday was Fan Fest at Ford Field, a Detroit Lions open practice inside the home stadium for fans to enjoy. As the leader of the Lions, head coach Dan Campbell did what he does best: fire up the fans with hope, in a way only Dan Campbell can.

After greeting the fans with some true words about the blue-collar nature of the city of Detroit, Campbell turned sentimental.

“You’d give your coat in winter to someone who needs it,” the former Lions tight end said. “That’s what this community is about.”

And then came the rousing the 18,000 fans in the stadium wanted to hear.

“However…however — nobody will take advantage of our hospitality. Nobody. That’s who we’re about. This team is working its rear off to give you something to be proud of.”

Campbell followed that with some lion pride,

“We’re freakin’ starving. We are starving. So the hyenas better get out of the way.”

Mic drop.
