Dancing on Ice has confirmed the ninth celebrity contestant to take part in the 2024 series.

Actor Ricky Norwood, best known for playing Fatboy in EastEnders, will take to the ice next year when the ITV hit skating show returns early next year.

Ricky shared the news with the Loose Women panel on today's show (October 4).

"Being on the ice! I’m apprehensive about the lifts, especially the headbanger," he said. "I’ve got to trust in the process, trust in the training, trust in the trainers."

Ricky is the second soap star confirmed for the 2024 series, with Brookside and Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney also set for the skating show.

Other celebrity contestants recently announced for next year's series include Gogglebox legend Stephen Lustig-Webb, Olympic champion and former Strictly Come Dancing star Greg Rutherford, S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt, stand-up comedian and Taskmaster series 8 champion Lou Sanders, plus world champion boxer Ricky Hatton.

Made in Chelsea's Miles Nazaire and Love Island's Amber Davies are two reality TV stars also signed on for the 2024 show.

It leaves just three stars left to be announced for the celebrity line-up, which is usually comprised of 12 contestants.

It's thought that This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby will return to hosting duties, but ITV is yet to announce a new co-host following Phillip Schofield's departure from the channel in May.

In addition, the Dancing on Ice judging panel for 2024 currently remains unconfirmed, but it's expected that skating icons Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, plus Diversity star Ashley Banjo and Strictly Come Dancing's Oti Mabuse, will return to share their verdict on the skating routines.

Dancing on Ice will return to ITV and ITVX in early 2024.
