"My kids love dancing around so hopefully they are going to enjoy watching me dance with blades on my feet," he said of his reason for joining the show.

"I think this is going to be a really different experience but one that will be quite exciting," he added. "I like a challenge and I needed a reason to go out and do stuff again and here we are.

"I want to perform something that's never been done before, that's my aim. I'll go 100,000% on this. I'll try hard, I'm in no way expecting to be good but I will work as hard as I can."

Greg, who has previously taken part in Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef, is the fifth celebrity confirmed for the celebrity skating competition.

He joins Love Island star Amber Davies and S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt, plus Brookside and Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney and world champion boxer Ricky Hatton in the lineup.

Fans of the show can expect further cast announcements this week, with 12 celebrities in total expected to appear on the programme, which is due back on screens in 2024.

This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby is expected to return to the series, but ITV hasn't yet announced who is co-hosting, following Phillip Schofield's departure from the channel in May.

In addition, ITV has yet to confirm if skating icons Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, plus Diversity star Ashley Banjo and Strictly Come Dancing's Oti Mabuse will return to the judging panel.

Dancing on Ice will return to ITV and ITVX in early 2024.
