Dancing with the Stars has waltzed in a new co-host to join Alfonso Ribeiro, after Tyra Banks exited the show.

It comes on the heels of the former supermodel and America’s Next Top Model judge announcing she would be focusing on new projects, after three years at the helm of the hit dance show.

Now, Burlesque star and Dancing with the Stars veteran Julianne Hough has announced that she is returning to the dancefloor, but this time as host for season 32.

Hough joined the show as a professional dancer in 2007, won the show twice with celebrity partners, and received three Emmy nominations (and secured one win) for Outstanding Choreography.

This won’t be her first time back in the fold, as Hough served as a judge on the show for three years from 2014 to 2017.

Talking to Variety, Hough said: "It is such an honour to be rejoining Dancing with the Stars as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of.

"The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann [Inaba], Bruno [Tonioli], Derek [Hough], the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor."

She added: "The energy is magnetic every time you step foot in to the ballroom and I can’t wait to feel it again – and of course to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans – for another exciting season."

This comes only days after Banks teased that she was leaving the show while responding to TMZ.

She joined the show back in 2020 for season 29, taking over the role from original host Tom Bergeron.

Banks said: "I feel it's time for me to really focus on my business and my entrepreneurship and also producing more TV, behind the scenes."

Dancing with the Stars streams live on Disney+ in the US.
