More than 250 runners took to the hills surrounding Breitenbach Winery last Saturday as part of the Dandelion Run.

Bryce Newbold of Dover was the overall winner in a time of 21 minutes, 2 seconds. A fun run/one-mile race was also held.

The event benefited the Zachary Davis Memorial Foundation, which was started by Anita Davis after the death of her son on November 12, 2005 from a heroin overdose.

“Before he died he told me that if he could tell kids and prevent one person from ever using, he would,” Davis said. The foundation provides learning opportunities about drugs and their lasting effects on an individual and their family. In addition, the group offers scholarships to graduating seniors to specific schools in the area.

They have also been able to give significant gifts to youth-focused organizations, including YoungLife of Tuscarawas County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, YMCA Strong Kids and Dover High School Youth To You.
