Danilov says Kremlin would do well not to delay talks with Ukraine – on war reparations

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, was responding to a statement made on Sept. 27 by Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, about the Kremlin’s “willingness to negotiate.”
“As the situation changes, so do the conditions – we have repeatedly talked about this,” Peskov said.
Danilov responded caustically on Twitter, saying “Ukraine has never been against negotiations with Russia... regarding compensation and reparations.”
“The longer the Kremlin regime delays these negotiations, the worse the conditions and the greater the amount will be. The tasks for the liberation of Ukraine ... will be completed in full, according to plans and schedules.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously said that it is impossible to conduct a substantive dialogue with Russia until it leaves the territory of Ukraine.
Mikhaylo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, said that Russia uses negotiations to gain time for the continuation of aggression, and that a peace agreement is now impossible, as Russia only wants to destroy Ukraine by military means.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has noted that “the best way to negotiate with Russia is on the battlefield.”
