Danny Green targets a return for Sixers by All-Star break with torn ACL

Early in Game 6 for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Miami Heat, they lost veteran shooter Danny Green to a gruesome knee injury that kept him out for the rest of the game. The Sixers really missed his presence on the floor in that game as a shooter and his ability to do the little things.

The day after the Game 6 loss, it was revealed that Green suffered a torn ACL and LCL after Joel Embiid fell on his knee. Normally when a player suffers a torn ACL and LCL, that mean they are out for an entire season.

However, on his podcast “Inside the Green Room”, Green is targeting the All-Star break for his return to the floor:

I’d like to end on my own terms and not a major injury…I will be back before All-Star break. You better believe it. You heard it here first. So I will work my tail off to rehab to get back healthy. My body and my bones usually heal pretty well. I don’t have any bad habits. So, yeah, I think I’ll be back in time to help the team in the playoff run and show and prove that I’m able to still play at that level to help a team get a win in the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see if Green will be able to work his way back by the break. The Sixers will certainly miss his ability to spread the floor and his mere presence on the floor is a big help to this team. He was playing pretty well before the injury in the playoffs and that is going to be something to watch for the Sixers early in the 2022-23 season.
