Danube Grain Route project launched in Ukraine

Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDSC) launches the Danube Grain Route project after Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

Quote: "Back in the summer, we anticipated that Russia could try to disrupt the Black Sea Grain Initiative at any time. Therefore, we persistently and systematically developed the Ukrainian Danube Grain Route project.
It is noted that the UDSC has invested in the creation of its own transhipment of grain, and also agreed with the Romanian company TTS, regarding a faster and more efficient transhipment scheme in the port of Constanta, Romania.
Moskalenko added that the Danube Grain Route is already starting to work. Thus, it is a safe and guaranteed delivery of agricultural products from the river port directly to the sea vessel of large tonnage. Logistic communication will be carried out and controlled by the UDSC.
The UDSC expects that due to the faster loading and unloading process, the average turnaround time of the caravan will be reduced by an estimated 30%. Cargo owners will not have to suffer financial losses due to long waiting times in line at the terminal.
The vessels will also be equipped with online control systems, video surveillance, and the number of navigators in the crew will increase. This will enable the barge caravan to make up to two voyages per month.
The second stage of the project involves the construction of new barges. In the near future, the modernisation of traction will begin. It will be a major overhaul of the self-propelled fleet with the replacement of engines.
