Danville drug dealer sentenced to nine years in prison

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A man from Danville confessed to dealing cocaine and was sentenced to nine years in state prison on Tuesday.

50-year-old Avery Brandon pled guilty to unlawful possession with intent to deliver controlled substance, a class 1 felony. He will spent the next near-decade in the Illinois Department of Corrections, which will be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release.

On Oct. 28, 2022, the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group searched Brandon’s house and found drug scales and many grams of cocaine. During an interview, Brandon admitted he had cocaine throughout his home and had sold the drug that same day.

State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy extended gratitude to the Vermilion County Metropolitan Group for their work in this case.

“My office will seek significant prison sentences for drug dealers,” Lacy added.
