DAR presents Good Citizens Awards

May 14—The St. Joseph Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently presented cash awards to three local high school seniors who were winners in the annual Good Citizens contest.

The contestants wrote an essay on the topic "How do the qualities of a good citizen (dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism) help support our nation?" The first-place winner was Ashlin McCamy of Central High School and the runners-up were Kesney Miller of South Holt High School and Allison Adkison of Lafayette High School.

The St. Joseph Chapter was established on April 16, 1898, to promote the organization's purposes of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
