This highly desirable C3 Corvette can highlight your American sports car collection.

Ever since the Chevrolet Corvette was introduced new for the 1953 model year, plenty of interesting stories have collected over the decades. GM shocked the world when it revealed the wild Mako Shark concept, also called the XP-755, designed by the great Larry Shinoda. It was appropriately aggressive and finally came to life, albeit with some big changes, when the C3 Corvette launched in 1968. When it came to the 1969 Corvette model line, production was delayed at GM due to a parts strike.

GM designed the Corvette C3 body after the Mako Shark II by Larry Shinoda. You can see some very obvious design resemblances, but things changed to make it into production. Making it closer to the ‘Shark’ design meant a major overhaul from the inside out. The chassis was one thing that carried over, keeping the second generation fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brake system.

Powering this classic gem is numbers-matching 350-cubic-inch V8 engine that shifts via a numbers matching M21 Muncie 4-speed manual transmission.

You’ll turn plenty of heads while behind the wheel of this Chevy Corvette. Everyone loves a clean Corvette and this car has that nice gold luster to the body, so the light really makes it shine. With plenty of muscular bulges this thing looks mean but not over-the-top. GM didn’t slather this car in chrome, but what is present looks good enough to impress.

Many people dream of owning a classic Corvette and this could be your chance. This vehicle will be sold during the Zephyrhills Classic Car Auction October 29-30. Vendors will also be on site.
