Daredevil star Charlie Cox auditioned for Young Han Solo

It looks as though ‘Daredevil’ almost made a ‘Star Wars movie…

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 33-year-old British actor Charlie Cox revealed that he may have auditioned for the role of young Han Solo… but his ‘Daredevil’ role may have blown it for him.

“I had gone to an audition – one of those things that are super secretive and they don’t tell you, but I’m pretty sure it was for the Han Solo reboot – and halfway through it, the casting director stopped me and said, ‘Why aren’t you looking at me?’”

Of course, Charlie Cox has spent the last couple of years as Daredevil – Marvel’s acrobatic (but blind) superhero, who recently starred in two full seasons of his own Netflix series.

But playing a blind man may have caused Cox to pick up some bad habits…

“I realized I had gotten into a habit of not making eye contact, because the only thing I had done for two years is play someone who is blind,” he explained. “I never got invited back, probably because they couldn’t figure out why I was acting like a complete idiot.”

That’s right – Charlie Cox is so committed to the role of Daredevil that he’s become accustomed to not making eye contact… and that might have freaked out the casting director a little bit.

The upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spin-off has since cast Alden Ehrenreich in the role of a young Han Solo… and it’s reportedly due to begin filming after production wraps on ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’.

But unfortunately, Charlie Cox won’t be joining them.

At least, not in the role of Han Solo.

Still, at least Cox has ‘Daredevil’ to fall back on. And that’s no small deal. ‘Daredevil’ continues to reap critical acclaim across the board, as well as gaining a phenomenal following thanks to its gritty drama and stylish visuals.

Will Charlie Cox eventually make it to the galaxy far, far away?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But he’s still needed in Hell’s Kitchen.
