Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D'Onofrio has responded to the show's recent creative overhaul.

This week it emerged that Marvel had decided to use a recent pause in the show's production due to the Hollywood strikes to review what had been shot so far, and came to a decision to part ways with head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman.

With fewer than half of the 18 planned episodes already filmed, they are now seeking new writers and directors to shape the series.

After a fan suggested that a post on X (formerly Twitter) by D'Onofrio from earlier this year sharing his excitement for Born Again had "aged poorly" in the wake of the news, the actor responded by clarifying the situation.

"Unless you really know what's going there's a chance you could be wrong about this statement," he wrote. "We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of. Have some trust my friend, trust."

D'Onofrio later added: "Every cool project I've been involved with has evolved constantly during pre- production, production and post. It's just reported on these days as if it's big news. It's not. It's simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right.

"It's a constant in this business. I wouldn't have it any other way. Frankly I'd be worried if we were settling for less."

The original reports also revealed that "some scenes and episodes" from the original footage will be kept, with "serialised elements" added, while Ord and Corman will get executive producer credits on the final product.

D'Onofrio will return as Kingpin from the original Daredevil Netflix series alongside Charlie Cox as the titular superhero, aka Matt Murdock.

Daredevil seasons 1-3 are streaming on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again is due to premiere in 2024.
