Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio has said that the creative overhaul of Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again is the "right thing".

Back in October 2023, the reboot of Netflix's Daredevil series received a creative overhaul following a lengthy break after the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes.

After reviewing what had been shot so far of the show's planned 18 episodes, Marvel decided to reset the series and part ways with head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman.

Following the overhaul, The Punisher writer Dario Scardapane came on board as the new showrunner, while Moon Knight and Loki directing duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were chosen to direct.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about Benson and Moorhead joining the series, D'Onofrio said: "I'm a huge fan of those guys, and I talk to them all the time now.

"When I heard that [they were joining Born Again], I was like: 'OK, not only are we switching things up, but the bosses are doing the right thing for us.' They've given us their hottest talent, and that's pretty cool. So the first thing I did was thank them. I thanked Kevin [Feige] for doing that and sticking with Charlie [Cox] and I. It's a pretty amazing thing."

Opening up about the overhaul, D'Onofrio said: "During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said: 'Look, this is how we've got to do it now.'

"So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that's a great thing. It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons."

The series sees Charlie Cox reprise his role as the titular character aka Matt Murdock opposite D'Onofrio's Kingpin aka Wilson Fisk.

Daredevil seasons 1-3 are streaming on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again is due to premiere in 2024.
