On Sept. 11, 1994, the Kansas City Chiefs faced the San Francisco 49ers at Arrowhead in what some fans called “The Game of the Century.”

Joe Montana, who won four Super Bowls and three Super Bowl MVPs with the 49ers, was traded to the Chiefs the previous year. On that Sept. 11 game, Montana faced his old team, now led by Steve Young. It was the only game where Montana and Young played each other.

The game featured additional NFL superstars such as Marcus Allen, Derrick Thomas, and Neil Smith for the Chiefs and Jerry Rice for the 49ers. Montana threw for 203 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Young threw for 288 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and one fumble. Rice had 78 yards receiving. Allen had 69 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving, and one touchdown.

The Chiefs sacked Young four times, while Montana was only sacked once. Kansas City won the game 24-17.
