Darrell Henderson Jr. is ‘making good progress,’ Rams hope he can play Sunday

The Rams were missing their starting running back Darrell Henderson Jr. against the Buccaneers in Week 3 after he suffered a rib cartilage injury the week prior. He was said to be a game-time decision after missing the week of practice, which shows he at least had a chance to play against Tampa Bay.

Heading into Week 4, there should be more optimism about the running back’s availability. Sean McVay told reporters Monday night that Henderson is making progress and the Rams are hopeful he can play against the Cardinals on Sunday.

“Darrell’s making good progress. I am hopeful that we’ll be able to have him for this week, but I’ll have a little bit more information as the week progresses with that,” McVay said.

Sony Michel and Jake Funk filled in for Henderson against a tough Buccaneers run defense. Michel rushed for 67 yards on 20 attempts, while Funk only got the opening carry, which went for 6 yards.

If Henderson returns this week, he should retake his place as the starter, given the way he was playing before getting hurt.
