DA's Office: 'Countless hours' spent probing death of Jasmyn Beatty

FRAMINGHAM — It has been eight months since a Framingham woman was found dead in her Route 9 apartment and authorities are still seeking answers to what happened.

Jasmyn Beatty, 28, apparently died from a stab wound to the back of her neck inside her unit at the Halstead Apartments, 1640 Worcester Road, where she was discovered on May 25.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled Beatty’s manner of death as “sharp force injuries,” but ruled the cause as “undetermined.”

Although no arrests have been made, investigators continue to look for clues as to what happened, according to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office.

“Since the time of her death, investigators have worked countless hours, tested evidence and (conducted) canvases (of) the neighborhood,” according to the statement. “We are grateful to the members of the public who have come forward and we continue to encourage anyone with any information to contact us. We continue to exhaust all investigatory tools to determine what happened to Jasmyn.”

Beatty, who grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Rhode Island, had recently begun working as a senior financial analyst at Staples’ corporate office in Framingham. She previously held a similar role at the TJX Companies Inc., also in Framingham.

She lived alone with her dog Bentley.

Beatty’s family could not be reached for comment. However, according to her obituary, she loved animals and was close to her family.

“Of all the loves Jasmyn had, none could compare to the love she had for her rescue dog Bentley. When you saw Jasmyn, Bentley was always by her side,” according to the obituary. “Her passing will be a void in Bentley’s life, however, he will continue to be loved and well cared for with Jasmyn’s mother Maria DaCruz.”

Authorities ask that if anyone saw anything unusual the early morning in the area of the Halstead Apartment complex to call the Framingham Police Department at 508-532-5911 or 508-872-1212.
