Date set for Chickasha Lighted Christmas Parade, Christmas Carroll 5k

Sep. 26—Chickasha City Council passed some Christmassy agenda items at their regular meeting on Sept. 18.

The date has been set for the Annual Chickasha Lighted Christmas Parade. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 along Chickasha Ave. Dozens of Christmas-themed floats will travel from 8th St. east to 1st St.

Earlier the same day, the Optimist Club of Chickasha will conduct their Christmas Carroll 5k Run at 8 a.m. on Dec. 2. The run celebrates the life of Rod Carroll. Top runners will receive a prize and all participants can refuel with a free meal after the race.

The route will begin and end at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. The 5k and one mile routes will start on South 16h St. and head north. The one mile runners will turn around on Maple Lane. The 5k route will continue north the Montana Ave. and then east, circle Shannon Springs Park and return following the same route.

The Chickasha City Council also approved a request from the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce to decorate the vacant lot at the southwest corner of 6th St. and Chickasha Ave. The Chamber plans to set up a Christmas tree, according to city documents.
