Dates To Know On The Upper West Side This Week

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Patch has compiled a list of events Upper West Siders might want to know about in the coming week.

From community board meetings to musical streams to outdoor comedy shows, here are the dates to know for the week of Jan. 25.

Ongoing Events:

Lincoln Center Concert Series: In memory of the lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lincoln Center hosted a weekly "Memorial For Us All" concert series. The concert series has ended but you can watch all the performances on the center's website.

New York Philharmonic: The Philharmonic is still doing its part to bring music to New Yorkers. The symphony is releasing live audio recordings of concerts on their website on a routine basis, such as a recent upload David Zinman conducting Beethoven. You can find the performances here.

Nightly Met Opera Streams: In an effort to brighten the lives of New Yorkers, the Met Opera offers a different presentation from the company's "Live in HD" series each day. The performance is available for 23 hours, from 7:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. the next day.

Live Safe Comedy Show In The Upper West Side, Bustan NYC 487 Amsterdam Avenue - Tuesday, Jan. 26.: A special safe social distancing comedy show, in a heated courtyard on the Upper West Side. There's a 20 person limit on the show starting at 6 p.m., and you can get your ticket here.

Shirei Chesed Community Chorus at Ansche Chesed, virtual event based out of 251 West 100th Street, Tuesday, Jan. 26: Here's how the event is described — "Our 4-part chorus brings together almost 50 lovers of choral singing from both Ansche Chesed and the wider Jewish community. Our recent performances include classical programs with The Bachanalia String Orchestra, a jazz concert with The Afro-Semitic Experience ensemble, Oratorio Souls on Fire based on the book by Elie Wiesel, a celebration of Jewish Love Songs from around the world, performed both at AC and at the Curtis Institute of Music, and a collaboration with the Grammy-nominated vocal sextet The Western Wind."

The Scientist Is In: Microscopic Photos, American Museum of Natural History, virtual event, Thursday, Jan. 28: The Museum's Microscopy and Imaging Facility Manager Morgan Hill Chase will lead a conversation about subjects like CT scanning meteorites or tiny pteropods.
