After examining the incident site, expert examinations will be conducted, including in explosives and molecular genetics, the Russian media outlet said.

The MASH Telegram channel posted a video of Dugin, who arrived at the scene of the incident a few minutes after the explosion.

Alexander Dugin’s associate, Pyotr Lundstrem, said that Dugin was supposed to have been in the car with his daughter, but at the last moment got into another car.

Russian media later reported that a car had exploded in Moscow region, with Dugina inside.

The incident took place late in the evening of Aug. 20 on the Mozhaisk Highway near the village of Bolshie Vyazyomy. The car exploded while in motion, reports said.

Alexander Dugin is a political philosopher, a supporter of the ideas of the "Russian world" and "Eurasianism" and also supports Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

He has promoted fascist views, and has called for all Russian-speaking people to be united in one country by dismembering former Soviet republics with Russian-speaking populations.

His daughter Daria was politically active and espoused similar fascist views on Russian television.

Russian propagandists have already publicly accused Ukraine of the assassination and called for retaliation. RT chief editor Margarita Simonian has called for attacks on "the decision-making centers in Kyiv".

Meanwhile, Ukraine denied any involvement in the incident, which occured deep in Russian territory.
