David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones pays tribute to father 5 years after death: ‘It’s remarkable and delightful that dad is still loved by so many’

Duncan Jones, the son of David Bowie, has paid tribute to his father five years after the music icon’s death.

Bowie died from liver cancer on 10 January, 2016, two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his final album Blackstar.

Many fans of Bowie have taken to social media over the past few days to remember the star, and his son Jones – who is a film director – tweeted: “Today marks five years since dad died. We are all a little sad, coping individually in our own ways. But it’s both remarkable & delightful that dad is still so clearly loved by so many.”

He added: “Yes, he’s missed… but with so much of ‘him’ in the work he made, he’s clearly still here.”

Over the weekend, the performer was remembered in a starry tribute concert, called A Bowie Celebration, which featured tributes from performers including Yungblud, Corey Taylor and Gary Oldman.

Ricky Gervais also recently reminisced about the first time he met Bowie, who became a good friend of his.

Bowie made a famous appearance in Gervais’s sitcom Extras, and the comedian also performed a stand-up set at the Bowie-curated High Line festival in New York in 2007.
