The Great Falls Public Schools athletic department has recommended to the school board that current Great Falls High assistant track and cross country coach David Killian be named the Bison's new track and field mentor.

The announcement was made by GFPS athletic director Mike Hennenerg in a press release to local media outlets.

Killian would take the reins from Bill Polk, who stepped down this past June after leading the Bison boys and girls for six seasons.

Henneberg noted in the release that Killian "possesses an energy and enthusiasm for the sport of Track and Field that is unmatched." He is a math teacher at Great Falls High.

Prior to coming to coming Great Falls, Killian was head cross country coach and co-head track coach at Sherwood High School in Oregon, and also spent time as head track coach at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, Ore., as well as Warner Pacific University in Portland.
