May 18—Christian Nascimento holds a wide lead in the race to be the Republican nominee for the 4th Congressional District and earn a chance to square off with U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean this fall.

According to incomplete and unofficial results from Tuesday's primary election, the Comcast executive from Montgomery County has earned more than double the number of votes as his competitor.

Nascimento so far has received 46,926 votes. Daniel Burton Jr., a Lancaster County insurance agent, received 21,011 votes.

Vote totals may not include all mail ballots, provisional ballots or military ballots. Totals will be updated as election officials complete those counts and update their data.

If Nascimento keeps his lead when all the votes are tallied, he will face Dean in the general election this fall.

Dean, a Montgomery County Democrat who is running for her third term, ran unopposed. She has received 94,880 votes.

The 4th Congressional District includes all of the central, eastern and northeastern parts of Berks County as well as a portion of Montgomery County.

U.S. representatives serve a two-year term and receive an annual salary of $174,000.
