Running back David Montgomery, the former Mt. Healthy High School standout who has played all four of his NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, reached agreement on a three-year, $18 million deal with the Detroit Lions that includes $11 million guaranteed, according to a report Tuesday night via Twitter from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Montgomery, 25, has rushed for 3,609 yards and 26 touchdowns in 60 NFL games, adding 1,240 receiving yards on 155 catches with four TDs. He finished last season with 801 rushing yards and 316 receiving yards with six combined TDs.

Montgomery, a third-round pick of the Bears in the 2019 NFL draft, missed four games during the 2021 season with a knee sprain, but has otherwise stayed healthy for most of his NFL career. He had 79 total yards in a 20-17 win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Sept. 2021.
