Sunday marked one week since former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was shot in the back at close range in his native Dominican Republic.

The Red Sox sent a team plane to transport Ortiz to Massachusetts for further medical treatment and have been giving fans regular updates on his health, courtesy of his wife, Tiffany.

Ortiz's children, son D'Angelo and daughter Alexandria, have also been posting updates about their dad during his recovery from multiple surgeries.

On Sunday, the family took to Instagram to publish another round of tributes to the future Hall of Famer in honor of Father's Day in the United States. As Alexandria noted in her post, the family still has Dominican Father's Day to celebrate on July 28, which will hopefully be a much happier occasion.

Tiffany Ortiz also posted a roundup of photos accompanied by a heartfelt message to her husband, noting that the circumstances surrounding this Father's Day brought "a new appreciation for life."

She also asked fans to celebrate this "Papi's Day" with their loved ones. Ortiz's nickname with the Red Sox, of course, was "Big Papi."

Ortiz is still recovering from his injuries at a Boston hospital as police continue to search for all those suspected to have been involved in the shooting.
