David Tennant says there's "no plans" for more Staged after season 3

There's sad news for Staged fans, as its star David Tennant has confirmed there won't be more episodes past season 3.
The former Doctor Who star revealed there are "no plans" to continue the lockdown comedy, which also features Tennant's Good Omens' co-star Michael Sheen.
"We've had a wonderful time filming the series but have no plans to do more," the Broadchurch actor told The Sun.

"It was a show borne out of a particular period of time – lockdown – when we were all in our houses communicating via Zoom, as our characters did in the show," he explained.
Premiered in 2020, the series sees Sheen and Tennant portray fictionalised versions of themselves.
Suddenly forced to stay home during the Covid-19 pandemic, the two actors resort to rehearse a fictitious West End play during a series of video calls.
The series records their exchanges with incursions from their real-life partners, Anna Lundberg and Georgia Tennant, as well as writer/director Simon Evans. It also featured and a bunch of guest stars, including Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett and Neil Gaiman.

Staged ran for three seasons on the BBC, but Tennant now feels it doesn't reflect the world as it is at present.
"We couldn't get out," he said, referring to the first seasons of Staged. "Now, as the characters demonstrate in some of the scenes in the new series, we can."
Fret not if you're in dire need of your dose of Tennant and Sheen, though. The two stars will return in the second season of Good Omens as demon Crowley and angel Aziraphale, blessed by a special appearance from Mad Men's Jon Hamm as a half-naked and amnesiac Archangel Gabriel.
Staged seasons 1-3 and the show's New Year's special are available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Good Omens season 1 is streaming now on Prime Video, where season 2 will premiere on July 28.
