Davidson County seniors claim NCHSAA track and field state championships

GREENSBORO — West Davidson senior Katarina Kepley claimed a Class 2A state track and field championship title Friday with a high jump of 5-02.

Also a Central Carolina Conference hurdles champ and all-league runner who had more than 100 kills for the Dragons' volleyball team this season, Kepley improved on her 5-foot seeding jump that qualified her for states by 2 inches to win the NCHSAA 2A title.

Oak Grove senior Jacob Murphy gave Davidson County another state title with his 13-06.00 pole vault leap. He also won a state pole vault title with a 13-00 jump at the NCHSAA indoor championships in February.

Here's a look at how the other Davidson County qualifiers fared Friday at the state championships on the campus of NC A&T.
