Dawahare, Truitt share top honor on girls’ soccer All-11th Region teams

Coaches of girls’ soccer in the 11th Region have selected the 2021 All-Region teams, including a shared honor of co-region player of the year bestowed upon Lafayette’s Brooke Dawahare and Lexington Catholic’s Katherine Truitt.

Lexington Catholic Coach Terry Quigley, who led the Knights to their third straight region title, was named coach of the year.

For Truitt, a junior central defender, it is the second time she has been a top vote-getter among the region’s coaches, having earned it by herself last year as the pivot point for the Knights’ smothering defense and rapid counter attack.

Dawahare, a sophomore midfielder, led Lafayette in assists with eight and was second on the team in goals with 10 in helping the Generals to a runner-up finish in the 43rd District and second consecutive appearance in the region tournament.
