EXETER — Core Pediatric Dentistry will once again be hosting a Give Kids A Smile event on Saturday, Feb. 19.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at their office at 5 Hampton Road, Exeter. The goal is to provide underserved children with free dental services. Children ages 1 to 14 may be brought in by a parent or guardian without an appointment for free dental exams and cleanings.

“Our dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and administrative personnel all volunteer our time for this program because we want to help local children who may not otherwise have an opportunity to see a dentist,” said Jennifer Creem, of Core Pediatric Dentistry. “Dental care is vitally important to a child’s overall health.”

More than one in five children aged 2 to 5 years old have at least one cavity in their baby teeth, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and children from low-income families are more than twice as likely to have untreated cavities. The American Dental Association launched the Give Kids A Smile program in 2003 as a way for dentists across the country to provide dental services to underserved children.
