On May 9, 2016, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry set the playoff record for the most points scored in an overtime period during a 132-125 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Curry scored 17 of his 40 total points in extra time to lead the Warriors to the win over the Trail Blazers. His 17 points surpassed the previous record of 16 set by Gilbert Arenas in the regular season with the Washington Wizards on Dec. 17, 2006.

Remarkably, Curry had come off the bench in that contest after missing the first three games of the series with a sprained knee. He was the first player with at least 40 points off the bench in a playoff game since Nick Van Exel in 2003.

Curry claimed his second Most Valuable Player trophy that season, becoming the first unanimous winner in NBA history. He continued his production throughout the postseason to help the Warriors advance to the NBA Finals for the second straight year.

Of course, they defeated the Trail Blazers in five games to advance to the Western Conference Finals. From there, they knocked off the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games to become the 10th team in history to overcome a 3-1 series deficit.

While the Warriors eventually lost in the NBA Finals to Cleveland Cavaliers after blowing a 3-1 series lead themselves, Curry put forth one of the best seasons ever and was must-see TV every night he took the court.
