A 'day of service': Winter clothing drive to be held on MLK Day at Utica Salvation Army

A winter clothing drive will be held on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, at the Salvation Army in Utica as part of the holiday's "Day of Service," according to an announcement from People First.

The drive will be hosted by the organization -- formerly known as the Utica Municipal Housing Authority -- along with Americorps and local residents.

Volunteers will distribute clothing donated by Trinity United Methodist Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Veterans Outreach Center, and the Central New York Labor Agency, as well as "blessing bags" to the homeless.

"Today we answer Dr. King's call to serve and are making a difference in the lives of Central New York residents," Dave Zogby, People First AmeriCorps Director, said in a statement.
