Daylight saving time is falling back on Nov. 6 in Georgia. Here's what you need to know

Though the holiday season can be a stressful time, daylight saving time ends to return an extra hour of sleep or relaxation.

On Sunday at 2 a.m., clocks in Georgia "Fall Back" one hour, so 2 a.m. Sunday will become 1 a.m. People will gain one hour of sleep or extra time to enjoy the weekend.

As a result, sunrise and sunset will be shifted by one hour, creating more light in the morning. Sunday's sunrise is approximately 7:40 a.m. with sunset coming about 12 hours later.

What do you need to do?

Most devices (computers, phones, smart TV's, etc.) are set to automatically adjust their times with daylight time, but residents should check their settings to make sure this feature is available and activated.

Daylight saving time is scheduled to "spring forward" on Sunday, March 12. That morning, many Americans will wind their clocks forward one hour, taking an hour of nightlife away.

Is this the last daylight saving time?

Sunday may be the last time Georgians' clocks change. In April, Georgia signed Senate Bill 100 making standard time run year-round. However, under federal law, the change can take place only if Congress makes daylight time permanent nationwide.

On March 15, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act. It has not been voted on by the House yet, but if it passes the House and gets signed off by President Biden, daylight saving time will be the new standard for all states except Hawaii, Alaska and the U.S. Territories.
