Dayton Service Initiative Enforcement plans upcoming patrols for today

The Dayton Police Department will be conducting a joint traffic enforcement detail on Dixie Drive Wednesday from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m., according to a media release by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Dayton Police will be working in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol as well as the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Butler Township and Vandalia Police Departments, the release said.

The purpose is to increase awareness, educate motorists and reduce fatal and injury crashes, according to OSHP. This coordinated effort will place officers in high crash, heavy traffic areas around Montgomery County.

Officers will focus on crash-causing violations including reckless driving, impaired driving, speeding and be looking for seatbelt violations, the release said.
