The charge stemmed from a February 2020 incident where officers were investigating the circumstances of a firearm that was visible in an unoccupied, running vehicle near Uptown Lounge on West Third Street in Dayton.

Doakes returned to the vehicle with the vehicle’s key fob, but ran away from law enforcement, according to court documents. As he ran, police said Doakes discarded a Glock 9mm magazine that was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Officers later executed a search warrant and found four additional firearms and nearly $10,000 in cash in Doake’s residence and on his person.
