Dayton Mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Dayton Mayor Jeffrey J. Mims has tested positive for COVID-19.

Mims tested positive Sunday, according to city spokesperson. He is experiencing mild symptoms and is quarantining at home.

The mayor has received the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shot.

A spokesperson said Mims expects to be back in the office following quarantine. Until then, the mayor will be working remotely.

The city announced Monday afternoon that due to Covid exposure, the Dayton City Commission’s meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, would be held virtually.
