Dayton police, fire to conduct ‘realistic’ training events downtown

If you’re visiting or live in the downtown Dayton area, you may see heavy police and fire presence beginning Monday.

The Dayton Fire Department and Dayton Police Department are conducting a series of realistic training events at the Dayton Convention Center located at 33 E. Fifth Street.

Anyone in the area should be advised of a heavy police and fire presence near the Dayton Convention Center and surrounding blocks during the below timeframes:

  • February 13, 2023 8:00am – 6:00pm

  • February 14, 2023 8:00am – 6:00pm

  • February 15, 2023 8:00am – 6:00pm

  • February 21, 2023 8:00am – 3:00pm

  • February 22, 2023 8:00am – 3:00pm

  • February 23, 2023 8:00am – 3:00pm

The training will involve DFD and DPD members in full personal protective equipment.

Some of the training may involve simulated weapons and mock victims being loaded into medics, according to the fire department.
