Dayton Public Schools expected to vote on new teacher agreement tonight

Dayton Public Board of Education is expected to vote on a new contract between the district and its teacher’s union.

A tentative agreement between the district and the union was reached in October, according to Dayton Education Association president Neil Mahoney.

Union members voted on the contract at a meeting earlier this month, with 86 percent of members voting in favor of the new contract.

Now, the Dayton Public Board of Education must vote on the contract. The issue is on the board’s agenda for their meeting, which is scheduled for tonight at 5:30 p.m.

If approved, the contract would be good through June 30, 2025.

The previous contract, which went into effect in July 2017, expired on June 30.
